Preschoolers 3-5 yrs

Children at this age are very curious and have an endless supply of questions. Try to answer as many as you can but keep your answers short and simple.

Your child might start to "show off" or use inappropriate language. Make sure your child understands what is acceptable and what is not.

Preschoolers feel most secure when they have a daily routine and rules are in place. You will notice your child will become irritable if their routine is disturbed in some way. Anything from having dinner late or missing their bath time can set your preschooler into an awful mood.

You will find your child playing with forks and acting out as if they are people, understand your child's imagination is in full swing right now. Allow your child to play with conventional toys and not so conventional toys. You will notice boxes, dishes or even your old keychain will take on its own imagination in your preschoolers eyes.

As grown up as your child may seem they have many fears and one of them is the dark. At bed time allow your child to sleep with a security object such as a nightlight, blanket or stuffed animal. Your child will rest easier and you wont have so any tantrums at bed time.
